The Philanthropist on NBC

I don’t know about you, but I’ll be tuning in to NBC tonight at 10 p.m. to check out the series debut of The Philanthropist. In light of current economic conditions, I’m looking forward to watching a TV billionaire who gives his money away instead of just spending it lavishly on himself. After all, that kind of self indulgent decadence is so Dynasty, so ’80s.

In The Philanthropist, James Purefoy (who played Marc Anthony in HBO’s Rome) is Teddy Rist, the title character who travels the world and actually helps people. He runs a nonprofit organization with his partner Philip Maidstone (Law & Order’s Jesse L. Martin.) Party of Five’s Neve Campbell plays Philip’s wife Olivia.

So, if the show’s do-gooder premise doesn’t entice you to tune in, the talented cast of TV veterans certainly should. Who’s appearance on the The Philanthr0pist would most likely encourage you to watch the show? Voice your choice in today’s featured poll. And if philanthropy isn’t your thing, you can always check out The Real World: Cancun on MTV tonight at 10. Counter programming at its finest.

I have been looking forward to this show. I really like James Purefoy and have missed him since Rome was cancelled. He’s a great actor and very easy on the eyes!

I enjoyed the show and hope it gets picked up. It was a little slow for me in the beginning with the history of the players, but about mid way through it – I was hooked.

    Can’t wait until next week
