Michael Douglas

The American Film Institute bestowed Michael Douglas with their 37th Annual Lifetime Achievement Award in Los Angeles last night. The ceremony will air on TV Land on July 19th.

Douglas has had an illustrious career and is certainly deserving of the accolade. He won his first Oscar at age 30 as producer of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (while starring on the the TV series The Streets of San Francisco with Karl Malden.)  He is Hollywood royalty, son of Golden Globe winner Kirk Douglas and husband to Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones.

But he’s best known for his leading man roles in numerous hit movies from the ’80s and ’90s.  Who can forget the films in which he co-starred with Kathleen Turner:  Romancing the Stone, The Jewel of the Nile and The War of the Roses?  How about the scary suspense of Fatal Attraction and Basic Instinct? And let’s not ingore his Oscar winning performance in Wall Street or his amazing depiction of the title role in The American President.

Michael Dougles will turn 65 in September and he’s still got plenty of good movie making years of ahead of  him.  What’s your favorite of his roles thus far? Voice your choice in today’s featured poll. And get ready for his next film, Solitary Man, coming soon to a theater near you.

I am really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one these days..

  3. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
