The five major television networks announced their schedules for the 2009/2010 season, which means that some of our favorite shows will not be returning in order to make room for new programs. The shows that did not get renewed include the following…
ABC: According to Jim, Cupid, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, In the Motherhood, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who?, The Unusuals.
CBS: Eleventh Hour, Harper’s Island, The Unit, Without a Trace.
The CW: Privileged.
FOX: King of the Hill, Prison Break, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
NBC: Kath & Kim, Kings, Knight Rider, Life, Lipstick Jungle, My Name is Earl.
Three of these shows — My Name is Earl, Prison Break and Samantha Who? — won People’s Choice Awards during their freshman seasons. Voice your choice in today’s featured poll on which one you’ll miss the most. Personally, I was sad to see Pushing Daisies, Harper’s Island, Privileged, Prison Break and Lipstick Jungle get the ax. Post your comments below on which show(s) you want back next year.

You made some good points there. I did a search on the subject and located most people will agree together with your blog. However, I’m having issues with viewing your weblog, do you know whats happening?
im still trying to figure out why in the world nbc would cancel such a great show like JOURNEYMAN!!!! i saw the 13 episodes….. and i have to say that they are truly amazing……. great acting, great characters, an amazing plot…… something needs to really bring back this show …..
It sad that Dirty Sexy Money & Pushing Daisies are cancelled, they were good TV shows, worth watching.
Thanks for sharing with us.
I’m missing alot of good shows…Life, Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, Samantha Who. Boo stupid move of Leno, daily, prime time. I rarely watched him late and NEVER watch him now. This is what NBC thinks the viewers want? Sad. This industry must not read reviews from viewers, just the “numbers”. Where do they get those numbers anyway?
I cannot believe CBS cancelled Without a Trace and the Unit! I loved those shows and never missed seeing them. When will the networks stop cancelling shows people are watching!
Samantha Who, really? I’m so disappointed to hear that it will not be coming back. It was a show that I truly looked forward to.
i’m horrified while good shows continue to get the axe…i loved ‘privileged’, ‘samantha who’, ‘eleventh hour’, ‘life on mars’, ‘terminator’, n ‘pushing daisies’….but now….now i see that they cancelled ‘life’….that was the only show that kept me on nbc at least once a week (esp. after they cancelled ‘journeyman’–still pissed over that one)…
i know ‘house’ is guaranteed thru 7 seasons…so after that, it’s just the bbc for me
:0(
Okay, I pretty much left NBC a few years ago, EXCEPT for “My Name Is Earl”, now I’m completely done with it. Now CBS on the other hand, is where I watch MOST of my shows. First, the canceled “Jericho”, which was stupid to do, then they canceled “Shark”, also stupid to do; NOW, they’ve canceled “The Unit.” WTF?!?!? Are they trying to get us to quit watching their station?! I AM SO SICK OF THE SO-CALLED “REALITY TV” SHOWS I COULD SPIT!!! Why in the world are the main stations thinking that everyone wants to watch these idiotic shows? They’re planting the “Nielson Rating” boxes with people that they “think” are the majority, or else they’re making them up, I don’t know which. I’ve moved more and more towards the cable channels simply because the “Big 3″ stations don’t cater to main-stream people anymore.
The worst thing channel 3 ever did was to take off The Unit,Without a Trace and 11th Hour. I am so done with that station. I hope one of the other stations pick them up. The shows that replace them are really bad. Cant’ just leave things alone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i just recently saw the show “eyes” in it comes on driect tv networks 101 channel and it is a great show and i dont know why they would cancel it and keep all thease stupid show on. i gess the only reason is that there more stupid people to watch stupid shows than good ones BRING EYES BACK!!! on something just as good lol:)put it on abc fox fx tbs even g4 anything with some credibility
I just can’t believe that they canceled without a trace. I have always looked forward to watching it along with cold case, csi on thursdays, fringe.
Oh YEAH I forgot they can put stupid shows on like wife swaping, and all the other crap shows of reality. Please bring back without a trace. Get rid of the crap shows I would love to say something else but you get my drift.
Pretty soon there will be NO good shows on and there will be junk. If that is the case I hope more people will stop watching all the crap that is being put on CBS or any of the others.
I would love to see these shows back on:
Eli Stone and The Unusuals. These two shows are the only shows that I like and my husband likes. They are the only two that we actually sit down together and watch. Please bring them back.
Dollars over quality? Why are we surprised? Canceling a good sitcom (finally) Samantha Who and buying Dating in the Dark? More of the same “heads up their a$$es”. More dollars, less taste.
First they cancel “What About Brian” and now “Samantha Who??” Come on! I loved Barry Watson on both of these shows. Why do they keep taking out great shows! I don’t want to seem him changed to another character once again. Christina Applegate was great in this new role and always laughed at her and her friends and her mom is hilarious!
Privileged is a great show too. I would love to see what they would do with Will’s character too. He is cute! Great music too!
What are the networks doing, they keep dropping good programs for something that ‘may’ do well next season. I’m really going to tune out TV now and just watch movies. Movies are 2 hours and have an ending at least.
I’m going to miss The Unit, Eli Stone, Without a Trace, Life, The Unusuals and Terminator. Most of them ended without really tying up the ending of the program. Just tired to the networks battling each other for ratings and of course the advertisers money. I now get all my programs from the internet, thus avoiding the commercials.
I doubt if ER would have lasted 15 years if it was a new program today.
Goodbye networks hello internet.
I love Privileged….I wish they would consider a season 2….Will is so cute!!!!
There are very few shows left worth watching and the list is getting shorter. I’m glad that NBC reconsidered canceling “Chuck”, but I wish they would do the same with “Life”.
The networks keep canceling good tv shows, they do not give alot of the new shows even a chance, I do not watch any of the reality tv shows! And I do not care to see more reality shows in the places of the shows that were canceled! Why do they keep canceling the good shows? If I want to see reality I will just watch the news!
I’m not surprised that Harper’s Island isn’t coming back; I had always expected that after the 13 episodes were up, that would be it — we’d know the murderer and it would all be over. But did this mean that Turteltaub wouldn’t get green-lit for anything LIKE Harper’s Island? If so, that’s too bad; a 13-episode miniseries was just enough to tell an interesting murder mystery story and I’ll be sorry to see that format pass into disuse.
I forgot to mention Eleventh Hour. This was a great show and very disappointed to see it canceled.
Please don’t cancel Eli Stone, Without A Trace, Samantha Who, Lipstick Jungle and Harpers Island.
They don’t give these shows enough time to get a proper rating. I will miss Eli Stone, Eleventh Hour, Lipstick Jungle, Dirty Sexy Money, Prison Break, Without A Trace, etc. One of these days there will be nothing good to watch on tv then what will these networks do.
I’m going to miss My Name is Earl..that was my show…I always looked forward to Thursdays to see what Earl was going to do and what he’d cross off his list…it was spiritual as well as funny…guess there’s going to be a dumb show in its place….hope Jason Lee finds another show…he’s good…and also hope either ABC or Fox picks up My Name is Earl…I read they’re in talks to do so..I couldn’t believe it when I read it was canceled..wished NBC would have canceled Southland there’s too many cop shows already
I am really bummed that “Harpers Island” is not coming back. I love the show so far and cannot wait to watch the remaining episodes.
I was disappointed to learn that Life, Lipstick Jungle and Samantha Who are being cancelled. Are they going to have more reality shows take their place? Enough is enough!
Always cancelling, leaving a very Devoted Fan hanging in the wind. I would of like to see where Eli Stone was heading, The Eleventh Hour was good, Life didn’t get to finish it’s connecting the dots, and the MANY more that you TV people TOOK from us. My Own Worse Enemy.. Geez quiet a upset last season !!!!
I will REALLY miss Prison Break but can understand reasons for it’s ending. Can we have SOMETHING new by the same writers ? It was SHEER GENIUS in writing and left me ALWAYS wanting MORE at the end of each episode.
I also LOVE Samantha Who? Very witty and entertaining & I ADORE Christina Applegate so much. If not this show– put her in SOMETHING else!!
I was sad to see Without a Trace and Samantha Who cancelled. I’ve watched Without for years and Samantha Who since it has been on. They alwasy cancel good shows to make room for stupid dumb shows!!!
I would love to see show back on
-ABC:Cupid,and the Unusuals
-the CW:Privileged
-NBC: Knight Rider, Lipstick Jungle
I love all these show and how they will come back:)
